Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim has warned his side against letting their focus drop, admitting they could easily find themselves on the wrong end of a dramatic Europa League semi-final comeback in Thursday's second leg against Athletic Club.

Despite their domestic malaise - United sit 15th in the Premier League standings with three games to play - the Red Devils are overwhelming favourites to reach the Europa League final, having roared to a 3-0 victory away at Athletic in last week's first leg.

Athletic are without suspended centre-back Dani Vivian and the key attacking trio of Oihan Sancet and the Williams brothers, Nico and Inaki, for Thursday's game, further boosting United's chances of victory.

"We will have to suffer a bit to go to the final, and we are ready to suffer," he explained. "Sometimes during the game we are one team and then we lose our mind a little bit.

"If you look at our season, anything is possible. We have to understand one goal can change anything: the momentum of the game, one sending-off, you saw it a week ago. We are fighting to win the game. We are thinking about winning the game."

Reinforcing his concern, Amorim admitted his United side has been the worst team in the Premier League since he joined the club, admitting winning the Europa League and qualifying for the Champions League would not cover over the club's bitterly disappointing season.

"For me, in that moment and you look at Premier League, we are the worst team since I arrived in terms of results," he continued. "That is my idea. In the end of the season, we can be the worst team in Premier League history with a European title.

"So we will not change anything. We know that this season was disappointing. Nothing is going to change, in that moment I have to think a bit more but I felt that. I still feel that this season was the worst in the last 50 years."
