The English Football Association (FA) have accepted Arsenal's appeal against Myles Lewis-Skelly's dismissal against Wolverhampton Wanderers last weekend, wiping off his three-game ban.

The 18-year-old left-back was shown a straight red card by referee Michael Oliver shortly before the half-time break of Saturday's clash at Molineux. Lewis-Skelly deliberately tripped Matt Doherty to cynically halt a counter-attack and was clearly expecting a booking.

However, Oliver - whose decision was supported by VAR Darren England during the game - dismissed Lewis-Skelly for "serious foul play".

Arsenal's prodigious academy graduate will now be available for Sunday's lofty top-flight clash with Manchester City and next week's Carabao Cup semi-final away to Newcastle United.

While the update from the FA will be warmly received by the Gunners, the online outrage in response to the original decision has overshadowed this outcome. Referee Oliver has been forced to undergo police protection after receiving death threats and was taken off refereeing duties for Arsenal's next league outing against City.
