Chelsea are prepared to open contract talks with star midfielder Moises Caicedo in a display of their long-term commitment to the Saudi Arabia target, a report has revealed.

Caicedo, who was recently named Chelsea's Men's Player of the Season, has enjoyed a stellar campaign which has caught the eye of Saudi outfit Al Nassr, who see the Ecuador international as a "dream" signing.

Chelsea quickly made it clear that they were not interested in parting ways with Caicedo, who was signed for £115m in 2023 and may command the sort of transfer fee that could even prove too much for the lucrative Saudi Pro League.

Caicedo is already under contract until 2031, meaning Chelsea are under no pressure to thrash out an agreement, but Blues officials build their wage strategy around rewarding high-performing players and there is a recognition that the defensive talisman has done enough to justify a boost.

He is already in line for a 20% pay rise if Chelsea qualify for the Champions League but Caicedo is expected to be given the chance to agree fresh terms at the end of the season, once there is no longer a need to focus on what is becoming an increasingly tense race to qualify for Europe's top competition.

Midfield is an area in which Chelsea are thought to be incredibly satisfied, and it was recently revealed the Blues were also ready to reject any advances for Caicedo's on-field partner and close friend, Enzo Fernandez.

Fernandez has admirers in La Liga but, like Caicedo, would command an enormous fee after moving to Stamford Bridge for £106.8m in January 2023.
