Jude Bellingham hands Real Madrid injury scare ahead of El Clasico
Jude Bellingham scored Real Madrid’s opening goal in the Super Cup win over Mallorca - but then appeared to suffer a muscle injury.
Carlo Ancelotti has admitted Real Madrid are sweating over the fitness of midfielder Jude Bellingham after he pulled up late in the Super Cup semi-final victory over Mallorca.
In the dying embers of Thursday's 3-0 victory, Bellingham showed real discomfort after appearing to suffer a muscle injury, although that did not stop him from getting involved in a brawl on the pitch after the game.
Bellingham's injury came 15 minutes after Federico Valverde limped off and at the end of a half which saw emergency centre-back Aurelien Tchouameni withdrawn after a blow to the head.
"I saw Tchouameni doing well on the bench," the Italian said. "The doctor preferred to take him off because it was a blow to the head.
"Bellingham and Valverde... overloads. We didn't expect the heat and, in my opinion, it affected the rhythm of the game."
However, in a later interview with Movistar, Ancelotti revealed both Bellingham and Valverde had complained about muscle strains.
"[Valverde] had an adductor strain, like Bellingham," the boss revealed. "It was an unexpectedly hot game, it was very hot... and it could have affected both of them."
