Liverpool ‘reignite interest’ in former Jurgen Klopp target
Liverpool have been linked with a move for Inter striker Marcus Thuram.
Liverpool have reignited their interest in signing Inter striker Marcus Thuram, reports in Italy have claimed.
Thuram was on the radar of a number of Premier League sides in the summer of 2023 when he departed Borussia Monchengladbach on a free transfer, while Liverpool's interest in the France forward can be traced as far back as 2020 amid claims he was considered before Diogo Jota's move to Anfield.
The 27-year-old joined Inter when his Gladbach contract expired and has settled in nicely at San Siro, netting 23 goals and adding a further 19 assists in 61 games, with this season yielding 13 goal contributions in just 15 outings so far.
Liverpool are reported to be in contact with Thuram's representatives to reiterate their interest in a possible transfer, which would offer him the chance to reunite with close friend Federico Chiesa. Thuram has a £70m release clause in his contract which, while a high price, would at least lead to simple negotiations.
At the moment, however, Thuram is said to have no interest in listening to any proposals from elsewhere. He has professed his love for Inter both publicly and privately in recent weeks, reassuring the Nerazzurri that he does not see his future anywhere else at this point.
Much of Liverpool's interest in new forwards stems from the uncertainty surrounding Mohamed Salah's future. The Egyptian is out of contract at the end of the season, forcing the Reds to consider possible alternatives.
A whole host of wingers have been linked with Liverpool, including Brentford's Bryan Mbeumo and Bournemouth's Antoine Semenyo, Real Sociedad's Takefusa Kubo and even Real Madrid's Rodrygo.
