Liverpool’s route to the Champions League 2024/25 final

Liverpool learn their route to the Champions League 2024/25 final after the last 16 draw.
Liverpool are hoping to mark Arne Slot's first year at Anfield with an incredible treble.
The Reds sit top of the Premier League and are already in the Carabao Cup final, and now they know the path they must take if they are to lift the Champions League trophy in what looks set to be a famous campaign at Anfield.
After Friday's draw, let's take a look at Liverpool's route to the final.
Liverpool's last 16 opponent
Luis Enrique's side may have underwhelmed in the league phase, but they did just beat Brest 10-0 on aggregate in their play-off tie and it would be wise not to get drawn in by their defeats to Arsenal, Bayern Munich and Atletico Madrid earlier in the competition.
Liverpool's potential quarter-final opponents
Not only would a victory over PSG eliminate one of the heavy hitters in this competition, but it would set up what has to be viewed as a favourable quarter-final tie.
There could be an all-English affair on the cards, with Aston Villa the favourites to overcome their last-16 clash with Club Brugge and seal their spot in the quarter-final.
Liverpool's potential semi-final opponents
They say that to win this competition, you need to beat the best teams in Europe. Liverpool are undoubtedly getting a taste of that theory as the semi-final throws up a potentially huge meeting with one of the biggest teams on the continent.
Arne Slot's side will meet the winners of quarter-final 2, which will host the victors of PSV Eindhoven vs Arsenal and Real Madrid vs Atletico Madrid.
On paper, Arsenal and Real Madrid are the favourites to emerge from their ties.
Liverpool's potential final opponents
We now head over to the other side of the bracket, which appears to be a smoother run to the final.
Barcelona, another pre-tournament favourite, will be fancying their chances of reaching at least the semi-final, where there could be a meeting with Bayern Munich on the cards. Inter, Feyenoord, Bayer Leverkusen, Borussia Dortmund, Lille and Benfica may have something to say about that, however.
Nevertheless, one of those eight sides will reach this season's Champions League final, and Liverpool will hope to join them there.
