Man City eye Real Madrid star midfielder in summer transfer overhaul

Eduardo Camavinga has been an important player for Real Madrid but has never solidified a regular starting role in the heart of midfield.
Manchester City are said to be among the sides considering a summer move for Real Madrid midfielder Eduardo Camavinga.
After a bitterly disappointing start to the 2024/25 season, City began their squad rebuild in January by snapping up Omar Marmoush, Abdukodir Khusanov, Vitor Reis and Nico Gonzalez for well in excess of £170m.
Midfield remains an area of concern for manager Pep Guardiola, who is keen to rejuvenate an ageing crop of players, and Sky Germany's Florian Plettenberg has named Camavinga as a potential target.
There are several clubs chasing Camavinga who, despite his status as one of the world's best young midfielders, has never been a permanent starter at Madrid since joining the Spanish giants from Rennes in 2021.
He has, however, managed over 170 appearances for the club, having proven to be a key squad option, and Camavinga's importance to the squad was highlighted with the signing of a new six-year contract in November 2023.
Camavinga, for his part, has not made a decision on his future at Madrid. Much could depend on the future of Luka Modric, who will turn 40 later this year, or even who is in the dugout at the start of next season.
City are expected to continue monitoring Camavinga and several other players ahead of what could be a meteoric summer for Pep Guardiola's side. Reports suggest a huge number of current stars could depart, including midfielders Mateo Kovacic, Ilkay Gundogan, Bernardo Silva and even Kevin De Bruyne.
