Ruben Amorim has stated Manchester United's obvious desire to keep captain and talisman Bruno Fernandes amid rumoured interest from Saudi Arabia's Al Hilal.
Fernandes hasn't been immune from criticism this season, but he has also come in for widespread praise for his impact in a struggling team.
This week has seen reported interest from Al Hilal, with claims that Fernandes could be offered the equivalent of £1m per week – four times his current salary – to play in the Saudi Pro League.
"He is a top player and we need to top players. He is a leader, the captain. It is natural that people want Bruno, but we want to keep him. He is one of the top players of the world."
Fernandes has a contract at Old Trafford until 2027 that could be further extended with a 12-month option until the summer of 2028.
Journalist David Ornstein explained during an appearance on Sky Sports News that United want to make 30-year-old Fernandes the heart of their new-look squad.
"In United's mind, he is not going anywhere. They will want to build around him," Ornstein said.
"The soundings we are getting from these reports are that Bruno Fernandes is not interested in the move as things stand. If he wants to stay and continue his career in Europe, Manchester United genuinely have no intent in cashing in on him, regardless of their financial situation. He has been incredible for Man Utd throughout his time at the club, especially during tough circumstances."
Fernandes lifted the FA Cup last season in his first season as captain and could yet get his hands on the Europa League trophy in the coming weeks. United hold a commanding aggregate lead over Athletic Club ahead of Thursday's semi-final second leg.
