Tottenham Hotspur have identified former player and coach Scott Parker as a potential replacement for under-fire Ange Postecoglou, a report has claimed.

Postecoglou has come under enormous and justifiable scrutiny following a dreadful second season with the Lilywhites and it's looking increasingly likely that he will be sacked at the end of the campaign.

Winning the Europa League will be the only possible route to salvation for the Australian as Tottenham aim to end their 17-year trophy drought and qualify for next year's Champions League. Spurs face Norwegian surprise package Bodo/Glimt - who beat Lazio in the last eight - in the semi-final.

Bournemouth's Andoni Iraola, Fulham's Marco Silva and Brentford's Thomas Frank have all been touted as potential replacements for the 59-year-old but Mail Sport have now revealed that current Burnley manager Parker is another candidate.

The 44-year-old, who once played for Spurs and coached within their youth set-up, has guided Burnley back to the Premier League following an impressive campaign built on immense defensive foundations. The Clarets have conceded just 15 times in 44 Championship games.

Parker reportedly has "admirers" at Tottenham and could be considered should Postecoglou be sacked, although an attack-minded coach like Iraola might be preferred given the standards expected at Spurs.

The Burnley boss would certainly not be a glamorous appointment and the Englishman has struggled during past experiences in the Premier League. Parker underwhelmed in the Fulham dugout and lasted just four matches in the top flight with Bournemouth, where he was unceremoniously dismissed after a 9-0 defeat to Liverpool at Anfield.

He's won just nine of 52 Premier League matches as a manager and that's a record he will be aiming to improve in 2025/26 - whether with Burnley or Spurs.
