Arda Guler triggers new Real Madrid transfer payment

Real Madrid were forced to pay Fenerbahce a significant sum after Arda Guler’s Copa del Rey final appearance.
Real Madrid were forced to pay Fenerbahce another €4m (£3.4m) after Arda Guler made his 50th appearance for the Spanish giants in last month's Copa del Rey final with Barcelona, it has emerged.
The 20-year-old was a second-half substitute during Madrid's agonising 3-2 extra-time defeat to rivals Barcelona in the showpiece event, with the youngster providing an assist for Aurelien Tchouameni shortly after his entrance. The Turkiye international's exquisite corner proved immaterial, however, with Jules Kounde winning the tie for the Catalans in the 116th minute.
In further bad news for Los Blancos, Guler reached a half-century of Madrid appearances during the showpiece fixture, and, according to AS, the attacking midfielder's previous club, Fenerbahce, now receive €4m as per the terms of his transfer to the Santiago Bernabeu.
The starlet's impact has been limited at Madrid since his blockbuster move but he's shown glimpses of his immense quality and potential. That's been evident during recent matches, with four goal contributions across his past three games.
Perhaps Guler will be able to thrive under a new manager, with Carlo Ancelotti set to leave Madrid this summer. Xabi Alonso is the expected replacement and could bring the best out of the Turkish phenom.
