Arne Slot gives verdict on Liverpool links to Khvicha Kvaratskhelia
Liverpool manager Arne Slot was pressed on the club’s stance about signing Khvicha Kvaratskhelia - a player who may be able to leave Napoli.
Liverpool manager Arne Slot has dismissed links between his side and Napoli winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.
Napoli are open to offers for the Georgia winger, who is of serious interest to Paris Saint-Germain and is reported to be the subject of a swap bid involving Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford.
The surprise of Kvaratskhelia's availability saw fresh claims made about interest from both Liverpool and Chelsea. While neither are thought to be actively chasing a winger, the opportunity to land a long-term target is one which needs consideration.
"What I make of that is that it's January," Slot responded to a question about Kvaratskhelia.
"I think I said after the West Ham game not to disappoint me, please come up with all these clubs and all these players that have interest from us or the ones that don't play a lot for us to go somewhere else. That is what's happening now.
"Nine out of ten times, 99 out of 100 times, at the end of the window it's clear that almost all of these stories weren't true. So what can I comment about it? The rumours, keep going for it, but no comments from our side."
Napoli are thought to be keen on Liverpool's Federico Chiesa as a potential replacement for Kvaratskhelia. Speculative reports on the situation have claimed the Italian could be offered as part of a swap deal, with Darwin Nunez even touted as a potential makeweight.
