Tottenham ‘agree’ €60m deal for Chelsea & Man Utd target
Tottenham Hotspur have agreed a deal with Bayern Munich worth €60m (£50m) for Mathys Tel, although they face competition from four other Premier League clubs.
Tottenham Hotspur have agreed a deal with Bayern Munich worth €60m (£50m) for Mathys Tel, according to a report in France.
Tel is one of Europe's most promising young forwards and has grown frustrated with his lack of game time in Bavaria. The 19-year-old has made 67 Bundesliga appearances for Bayern over the past two-and-a-half seasons but only nine have been starts.
Chelsea were the early frontrunners for Tel's signature, with the prospect of Christopher Nkunku moving in the opposite direction also raised. However, the French forward is thought to be reluctant to join the Blues given the level of competition which exists in the club's frontline. Manchester United have also been touted as an interested onlooker.
The prodigious young forward is not short of suitors. Sky Sport Germany report that Aston Villa and Arsenal also eager to sign Tel. Those two clubs are currently embroiled in their own transfer feud, with the Gunners tabling multiple bids for Villa striker Ollie Watkins.
Unai Emery's side are adamant that the number 11 is not for sale given the imminent departure of Jhon Duran. Tel has been put forward as a potential replacement for the 21-year-old bound for Al Nassr in the Saudi Pro League, but Arsenal could be tempted to accelerate negotiations with Tel if their move for Watkins falls through.
